My People

My people...we don’t want to die anymore

My people are crying we don’t know what’s left in store.

What’s left for our men... can they breathe...can they live again?

To work to have something or even hang out with friends.

Our men are demasculinized in every way...

You strip their manhood, their identity, and even their pay.

George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery  your names will forever be said.

We are tired of being mistreated...beaten and left for dead.

Why is the color of our skin such a problem for you?

We have to work twice as hard just to make it through.

Our ancestors, my parents, and now I’m fighting for things to be better.

Are we wasting our times because it’s really the heart of the matter.

Your hearts are cold and lack pure love...

Christ died for all of us and not just one.

Where’s your love for humankind and wanting all to succeed. 

Where’s your love for my people...oh you just want to see us bleed.

Everyone’s not a racist... oh yes we all know

These real moments will expose you and It will always show.

My people are viewed as inferior to you..

Your privilege has gone out of hand and we matter too!

Many of life’s inventions have come from us.

You take the credit for it and we’re left in the dust.

We raised your children, cleaned your homes, and made money for you.

When we go home to our families we can barely buy our children shoes.

Equal pay, equal treatment, equal rights, and respect

Smile and greet us instead of putting your knee in our necks!!

To our neighbors who we share this land with...We hope you finally understand.

It’s pro-life for all people not just whites we should be walking hand in hand!! 

Search your heart, open your eyes ,and see life and struggles in my people’s eyes.

Ask for forgiveness, change your ways,  and join us all in making positive strides.

Don’t criminalize us by the color of our skin

Together we’re more powerful...I know we can win!!

Win against the corruption which will be the minority.

Love, laughter, justice, and peace will soon be the majority!!

So my people I feel you I wrote this for you

I was angry and still am but I know God will see us through!!!

Don’t forget that Moses, Joseph, and the disciples were in contempt. 

Most importantly Jesus...He was crucified.. so we are not exempt!!!

Hold your head up and know this too shall pass!

But until then let’s fight for our true justice and equality until we are free at last!!!
